If you had to take every
stoner film and cliche and blend it into a “movie plot generator”, the same
story comes up: a teenager will ‘accidentally’ drug their parents with weed
(THC) muffins.
But we live in the 2020s, we’re all a bit more mature* (*sort of), and
honestly, the majority of our parents are trying to grow their own stash.
Seriously, cannabis growing is going to be the rose gardening of the future.
So, in this enlightened era of cannabis use, rather than drugging your friends
and family, prepare them a batch of delicious CBD brownies?
If you’re still not sure what differentiates the C-B-Ds from the T-H-Cs, let’s
breakdown what CBD is:
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring substance in the Cannabis Sativa
plant, or Hemp. Unlike THC (which is the substance that makes you high), CBD is
not psychoactive, and just chills the user out.
We will still state if you are new to using CBD, try it in a safe environment.
Treat it like taking any new medication.
Anyway!
Now that we’ve cleared that up! Yes, you can cook with it! And yes, we the
Zootly crew have our own range of CBD, voted the best in the country, recently.
So, get that baking tray out, call your mama, and let’s get going!
What you’ll need is:
- 3/4 cup melted (but not hot) butter;
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil;
- 1 tbsp Zootly Broad Spectrum CBD Oil Original**;
- 3 large eggs;
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
**There are different strengths of CBD oil; just like making a brandy pudding, use responsibly.
First things first – preheat your oven to 180°C. Then do yourself a favour and lightly grease your baking tray with spray and cook, then line with baking paper.
Next, in a large mixing bowl, it’s time to mix the melted butter, Zootly Broad Spectrum CBD Oil, vegetable oil, and sugar together. Whisk it well!
When you’re happy with the consistency, add in the eggs and vanilla extract, and beat it for a minute.
Now, mix in the dry ingredients until smooth. And finally, you can add the chocolate chips into the batter. If you want to experiment a little you can chop up some of our CBD chocolate into the mix.
All that’s left to do is to pour the batter into a baking tray, make sure it’s level, place it into the oven, and bake it for 25-30 minutes.
You must test the brownies with a toothpick, I mean, you don’t want to dry them out! The toothpick should have damp crumbs attached to it when removed from the brownies. Once you’re happy with them allow them to cool for like 15 minutes before serving.
And there you have it! CBD brownies your family will love, especially your gran and grandpaps!
Words By: Andrew Macfarlane, budding horticulturist, and type one diabetic (so my recipe would be without sugar).
Zootly says: “I’m an omnivore, but I know some might be interested in a vegan recipe. Just replace animal-based products with alternatives – e.g: eggs with vinegar and baking soda.”
