We meet the landlord agent. The agent has been sent with the lease for our new shop in Mason’s Press, for a reasonably large space. You can tell this particular person has been there done that and dealt with that difficult client. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a person who’s been working for one of Cape Town’s property giants.
I get the sense that they’d be able to file paperwork, crossing all the T’s and dotting all the I’s.
Anyway, being in the rental property business myself, I’m impressed by the iron-clad agreement. I tell the agent that I’m going to copy this lease and use it myself. In hindsight, the small fee is cheap compared to roping in lawyers to write a new one.
When we ask for extras, we’re always told to just be grateful for being allowed into the building. Anyway, in the end, we have a shop in Mason’s Press situated in the cool suburb of Woodstock.
